A mixed bag

Had an okay sort of day. I went up to University and saw a couple of friends for coffee and lunch, did some work and used the library. Then I did my food shop at Sainsbury's. Today's blog is a random list of my observations!

1) I was struck by how little I go in the freezer section of the supermarket. I never do - don't do the chocolate, biscuit, crisp or alcohol aisles either. When I got to the checkouts they were all busy and a nice lady said "hold on, I'll open up this one for you". So I proceeded forwards, but so did a man with his 2 daughters tutting and moaning at my rudeness. I didn't push in mate - I was INVITED!

2) Everything is so expensive. One pound for a pepper! It's an outrage.

3) I was nearly tempted by coffee and walnut cake in the campus cafe this morning. It's my favourite cake but I resisted. It got me thinking about food combinations and how some things together are just delicious - strawberries and cream, lemon and lime, carrot and coriander, cheese and onion/tomato/pickle/marmite/anything! Some things just go together perfectly. Like me and Alex (aaaggh)

4) I seem to be gradually switching lots of foods over to organic. Some things really are nicer - carrots, cheese and cornflakes being my top tips. Might account for my shopping bills.

5) I am currently addicted to green olives!

6) It's Alex's birthday in 3 weeks and I'm trying to think of something to buy him. After 10 years together, it gets more difficult each year. I have some ideas - but can't put them on here as he might read them!

7) I LOVE wednesdays - at least at the moment. Not being a huge telly addict, wednesdays are one evening when I indulge. Child of our time at 8 on BBC1, The Apprentice and then Dexter. Great entertainment.
