I have been listening to a story on Fivelive. It's about 25 year old Adrian who has been suffering from Leukaemia for 18 months. He has now been told that he only has weeks or months to live and has decided to refuse any more intensive treatment.
It sounds a cliché to say that he is brave or that it makes you think about your own life. He was very matter of fact, explaining how he was putting everything in order and spending time with his family. But it made me realise that I always think of my life as a long journey and that at 28 I have lots more things to achieve and do over the coming years. i have made plans for the future. But what if there was no future? I suppose you would get on with living rather than putting things off.
Read his blog - it's not depressing and really makes you think.

Thanks for the link. I hadn't heard of this young man's tough situation. Even - especially? - with all the huge-scale disasters on our screens at the moment, we need to feel for individuals.
There is something about an individual that is more affecting. I don't think the brain can compute large numbers of people dying.
I hope it makes me stop worrying about petty things because there really is nothing more important than health and loved ones
